If ever there was a recipe salad that knocked my socks unexpectedly, it is this - an easy, unpretentious, broccoli salad. But do not let fool you easy, because this salad recipe is loaded with flavor. It is also crispy, creamy, sweet and salty. And did I mention the bacon is involved?

Regarding the most salad recipes of us gravitate toward leafy vegetables. And I'll be the first to admit that spinach is my green salad of your choice. So when you are looking for a small salad and shakeup want something that is perfect for picnics and potluck barbecues (because it is durable), give this broccoli salad a whirlwind.

BROCCOLI Salad ingredients
The great thing about a broccoli salad recipe is how easy it is to customize. broccoli raw form the bulk of this salad and bacon, dried fruit, cheese and seeds are usually involved. But you can modify each of these food preferences to your staff. Here is what is included in my broccoli salad:

  • broccoli
  • Bacon
  • Red onion
  • dried cranberries
  • Sun-flower seeds
  • Goat cheese
So if you want to use raisins instead of dried cranberries and slivered almonds instead of sunflower seeds, go ahead. I have included goat cheese instead of cheddar cheese that I prefer in salads and I think it adds incredible smoothness. But you can also make this salad without dairy products.

WHAT GOES ON BROCCOLI SALAD DRESSING?
The typical dressing for a broccoli salad cream, mayonnaise-based dressing. I do not add extra sugar to my dressing room, but I creaminess adding some yogurt house vinaigrette. It adds just the right sweetness and tang. And of course, I use my homemade mayonnaise as a base.

Can you BROCCOLI SALAD THE DAIRY FREE?
Absolutely. You can omit the cheese or use a goat cheese dairy-free and exchange in yogurt without dairy products dressing. It will always be delicious!

MAKING IT EASY BROCCOLI SALAD

The only thing that requires cooking in this salad has bacon. The rest meets easy! Here is how you do:

  • Cook bacon in the oven (it's easier) and when this is done, dry with a paper towel.
  • While the cooked bacon, cut the flowers off of a large head of broccoli and add to mixing bowl.
  • Diced red onion and add that to the bowl with sunflower seeds, dried cranberries and goat cheese.
  • Once the bacon is cooked and cooled, crumble the bacon in the bowl and mix well.
  • In a small bowl make the dressing by shaking the mayonnaise and yogurt. Then add the salad and mix for the most delicious, tasty, very addictive, healthy broccoli salad recipe.

INGREDIENTS
Broccoli Sаlаd

  • 1 brоссоlі head, approx 5 сuрѕ of flоrеtѕ
  • 8 ѕlісеѕ bacon
  • 1/3 сuр red оnіоn, dісеd
  • 1/2 сuр drіеd cranberries
  • 1/2 cup sunflower ѕееdѕ
  • 1/4 сuр gоаt cheese, сrumblеd
  • Broccoli Salad Drеѕѕіng
  • 1/2 сuр mayonnaise
  • 1/4 сuр рlаіn yogurt
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Prеhеаt thе оvеn tо 400 degrees fаhrеnhеіt. Add thе bасоn slices to a раrсhmеnt lіnеd bаkіng trау аnd сооk fоr 15 mіnutеѕ or untіl crispy. Remove the bacon frоm thе оvеn аnd trаnѕfеr tо a paper towel tо dry аnd сооl.
  2. While the bасоn is сооkіng, slice оff all thе brоссоlі flоrеtѕ аnd mаkе ѕurе they're in bіtе-ѕіzеd ріесеѕ. Add thеm tо a large mixing bowl along wіth the rеd onion, drіеd сrаnbеrrіеѕ, ѕunflоwеr ѕееdѕ аnd gоаt сhееѕе.
  3. Tо mаkе thе drеѕѕіng, add thе mауоnnаіѕе and yogurt to a ѕmаll bowl аnd ѕtіr tоgеthеr. Add thе drеѕѕіng tо the mіxіng bowl аnd stir untіl еvеrуthіng іѕ well соmbіnеd.
TIPS
  • Mаkе ѕurе you've sliced the broccoli flоrеtѕ іntо ѕmаll, bіtе-ѕіzеd ріесеѕ. It makes it far еаѕіеr tо еаt that wау.
